Fairfax’s Pat Herrity Says He Can Deliver Northern Virginia for Sears/Miyares in 2025

Fairfax County, VA

Longtime Supervisor Pat Herrity of Fairfax County’s Springfield District has officially declared his intent to run for Lt. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2025. He made the announcement through an online video released Thursday evening.

The video opens with a stunning visual of Virginia's landscape, accompanied by upbeat background music and a voiceover that feels fitting for a concerned, suburban middle-aged taxpaying man in 2025.

“Commonsense… As the only Republican in Fairfax County, it's something I don’t see much of these days.”

Herrity reflects on how things used to be different in Virginia’s most populous county, with over 1.1 million residents, when his father, former Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Jack Herrity, led the county with strong conservative ideals. Under his leadership, Fairfax was a hub for economic growth and quality schools.

In his pitch to Virginia voters, Herrity emphasizes his extensive experience in running businesses, coaching youth sports, and serving as the voice of reason for Fairfax residents as the county’s sole conservative voice. He proudly describes himself as the far-left anti-business Board of Supervisors' “worst nightmare” while also highlighting his ability to work across the aisle to achieve tangible results.

His accomplishments include stopping a local meals tax, supporting law enforcement funding, and reforming county officials' pensions to benefit employees while saving taxpayers money. At the heart of the Parents Matter movement, spearheaded by then-candidate and now-Governor Glenn Youngkin, Herrity stood with parents, often opposing bureaucrats.

In bold, straightforward language, Herrity lays it out clearly: “In 2025, we must continue the Governor’s legacy by electing Winsome Sears to the Governor’s mansion and reelecting Jason Miyares as our Attorney General.”

He hits the nail on the head, adding, “Republicans can win in November, but we need someone who can deliver votes in Northern Virginia.” His statement is direct, unambiguous, and confident.

Herrity also takes aim at liberal billionaire George Soros and his funding of left-wing progressive prosecutors, whom he believes have enabled violent criminals to wreak havoc in urban areas. He stands firmly on the side of law and order.

On immigration, he expresses support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating that localities refusing to cooperate with ICE should lose state funding, as proposed by Governor Youngkin.

Addressing education, Herrity stresses the need to steer resources toward students and teachers, ensuring that political agendas do not interfere with the classroom. He recently became involved in the controversy surrounding Hayfield High School and the fallout from the illegal recruitment of high school players. Despite the scandal, he has stood up strongly in support of the student-athletes and coaches who followed the rules, emphasizing the importance of fairness and integrity in sports. He believes those who played by the regulations should not be unfairly tarnished by the actions of others, advocating for their rights and ensuring their achievements are recognized. His stance has gained respect, showing his commitment to upholding justice and the values of sportsmanship.

Winning in Northern Virginia

First elected in 2007, Herrity won his 2023 election with 22,377 votes, or 53.73% of the vote, raising nearly $1.2 million. His involvement in influential organizations like the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Virginia Technology Council will be powerful assets in raising funds and assembling a strong team in the D.C. suburbs. The Virginia Tech alum has mastered the art of winning in a blue district by engaging with the local community, advocating for smarter, more efficient government, and serving as a voice of reason for the business community.

He succeeded in Fairfax, but the question remains: Can he replicate that success across the rest of Virginia (RoVa)?

Exclusive from Candidate Herrity

Herrity plans to kick off his campaign on Day One, following in the footsteps of Youngkin’s 2021 launch and Sears’ 2024 gubernatorial race. He will attend the annual Legislative Send-Off Dinner in Virginia Beach, hosted by the local Republican Party, on Friday night. The next morning, he will speak at the Virginia Beach Republican Breakfast.
