Norfolk’s Andy Pittman Hopes That The Second Time Is The Charm!

Norfolk, VA –

Norfolk native Andy Pittman is once again throwing his hat in the ring to represent the northern part of the city in a rematch with incumbent Delegate Phil Hernandez (D-94). A local civil litigation attorney, Pittman released a statement expressing his eagerness to reenter the political arena and help regain Republican control of the House of Delegates, bringing a conservative agenda to the commonwealth.

“It’s crucial that we build on the momentum we’ve gained and restore common sense at all levels of government—federal, state, and local,” Pittman said.

Affordability is a key issue Pittman is focused on in his campaign. Virginians have seen a steady increase in the cost of living, from housing and insurance to transportation and, especially, food. Pittman aims to address these concerns by appealing to the working-class voters in his district, who are feeling the squeeze the most.

“We will fight to make life more affordable for all Virginians, ensure our streets and neighborhoods are safe again, and give parents true choice in their children’s education. Join me in this fight!” Pittman vowed.

Crime, a pressing issue in many urban areas, is also a focal point for Pittman. He is committed to standing up for victims and believes it’s essential to hold local prosecutors accountable for enforcing the law. He stresses that allowing smaller crimes to go unchecked can lead to more serious offenses down the road.

In addition, Pittman is addressing Norfolk’s issues with parental dissatisfaction in the public school system. He advocates for school choice, hoping to reach voters across party lines who prioritize their children’s educational opportunities over political affiliation.

Pittman is determined to rebuild the playbook of former Delegate and Congresswoman Thelma Drake, believing that a second run may be the charm.

Incumbent Delegate Phil Hernandez, a civil rights attorney, has represented the 94th district in the House of Delegates since 2023. Andy Pittman, however, is focused on challenging Hernandez's seat, aiming to defeat him and shift the district's representation with a more conservative approach.

Campaign Finance

As of now, Andy Pittman, the Republican candidate for the 94th District, has not yet filed a campaign finance report, leaving his fundraising and financial status unclear at the moment.

VAREDWATCH has this as a Lean Democrat.

WIth incumbent Delegate Phil Hernandez (D) holding a significant advantage in both fundraising and voter support, the district has shown a tendency to favor Democratic candidates in recent elections. Additionally, the area's urban characteristics and diverse population make it more favorable for Democratic candidates, contributing to its classification as Lean Democrat. Despite this, a competitive race could emerge depending on the strength of the challenger's campaign.
