Armed with Compassion and a Business Acumen, Rockingham County’s Delegate Tony Wilt Announces Reelection Campaign

Harrisonburg, VA

Tony Wilt grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley in a home grounded in common-sense, hometown Virginia values. This deep connection to his community has fueled his dedication to serving as a Delegate in the oldest legislative body in the Western Hemisphere.

A lifelong resident of the Shenandoah Valley, Tony lives just south of Broadway. He is a past president of the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, an active Ruritan, and a former Zone Three Governor for the Ruritans in Rockingham County. Tony also serves as a leader in his church, Truth and Grace Ministries, and is a life member of the National Rifle Association. He and his wife, Vickie, have been married for 39 years and have two grown children.

As a former Chamber of Commerce President and longtime business leader, Wilt has consistently been a pro-business voice in the House of Delegates. With years of experience in the concrete business, he understands the importance of policies that make Virginia competitive with other states. Tony emphasizes key pillars of economic growth: low taxes, reduced regulatory burdens, and workforce development.

"Since my initial election, I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with and build relationships with many great Valley residents, as well as fellow legislators and citizens across the Commonwealth," Wilt said. "With their help, we've achieved significant successes in recent years—championing policies that support and protect vulnerable students, strengthening programs for our family farms, and advocating for common-sense tax and regulatory policies that prioritize the economic concerns of taxpayers and ratepayers.”

Throughout his political career, Wilt has remained steadfast in his conservative values. However, he prides himself on his openness to listening to new ideas and working across the aisle when it benefits his community.

With many far-left Democratic proposals raising concerns about Virginia's economic future, Wilt believes his seniority in the House will be vital in maintaining a commonsense approach in Richmond.

Tony is particularly focused on the challenges faced by everyday Virginians, especially amid rising costs of living. "With inflation remaining stubbornly high and new challenges emerging—particularly in energy policy and workforce development—I believe my experience and thoughtful approach to legislating can be an asset moving forward," he said.

"The General Assembly currently has the narrowest Democratic majority in both chambers. If re-elected, I will remain a conservative voice of reason to guard against some of the most liberal policies that are sure to be brought forward. At the same time, I have a reputation for working across the aisle to find common ground on issues that affect all Virginians."

With the 2025 Virginia General Assembly session fast approaching, Wilt reaffirmed his commitment to the citizens of the 34th House District. "When the session concludes, I look forward to speaking with voters at community events and on their doorsteps to learn about the issues that matter most to them," he said. "If given the honor of serving another term, I vow to continue serving with honesty and integrity, staying true to my faith and convictions, and putting the needs of Valley residents first."

Wilt has also served on several influential committees during his tenure in the House of Delegates, including

Public Safety Ranking Member

These roles have allowed Wilt to advocate for policies affecting schools, healthcare, and the electoral process—issues central to the well-being of his constituents.

VAREDWATCH has this as a Safe Republican

The 34th House District is a safe Republican seat due to its strong conservative voter base and consistent GOP wins, including Tony Wilt’s 56.67% in 2023 and Glenn Youngkin’s 59% in 2021. The district’s predominantly white, rural, and suburban demographics align with Republican values like low taxes and gun rights. Wilt’s reputation as a steady conservative further cements the GOP’s dominance, making it unlikely for Democrats to gain traction without significant political or demographic shifts.
